This collects some issues with text regions observed in 7561

spurious whitespace (the space between e and : can't be deleted, there is no space character. (example taken from german version of Getting Started, section "Formeln in Textbereichen")

if copied to clipboard and pasted here as image, the formatting is correct:

I don't see any evidence in the wikipedia entry for french spacing that this might mean significant space between the end of a word and a punctuation mark. I also don't see that this might be common in English.

The article mentions THIN space between a word and a following tall punctuation mark, but the remainder of the article focuses on the amount of space between a punctuation mark (end of a sentence) and the next word. I don't see how that is related to the highlighted feature in the screenshot. The space between Textbereiche and : is of at least the same size as between the words, thus it can't be called THIN.

If someone wants to have this, he can type a space there, but don't enforce it, please.

It's not a bug, it's a feature called french spacing. It is the default in some languages such as English but it looks odd in German. Technically it is kerning not a space character thus it's correct to omit it when converting to fixed width fonts.

Could you make this default=off when using other languages than English?
